Interestingly, it doesn't fail on ARM64: ​http://salmonella-linux-arm64.call-cc.org/master-debugbuild/gcc/linux/arm64/2019/04/12/salmonella-report/test/zlib.html

Maybe the test is somehow flaky?

Adding a more recent salmonella report:

Cannot reproduce locally on an x86_64 linux machine (debian buster). Will need to spin up a 32-bit test environment.
