This issue started showing up after CHICKEN was modified (the egg was not modified). According to http://salmonella-linux-x86.call-cc.org/master-debugbuild/gcc/linux/x86/2019/03/19/yesterday-diff/ (see the information on the environments at the bottom of that page), something after 6f08865a and before e064ac46 in chicken-core master caused the error.
